At Roots Run Deep Winery we know that just as you can’t make a delicious meal out of poor quality ingredients, you can’t make a great bottle of wine from inferior vineyards. That’s why we are so committed to working with the best growers we can find throughout the valley. Our years of experience working with vineyard owners and managers has developed into strong partnerships, and it is these long–term relationships that allow us to get amazing, high quality fruit without tying up precious resources in vineyard holdings. The result is incredibly flavorful and well–structured wines that are indistinguishable in quality from our higher-priced Napa Valley competitors. Our wine is crafted from grapes grown in the prestigious wine districts of Oak Knoll, Yountville, Oakville, Rutherford, St. Helena and Carneros. Our sole source for Carneros Chardonnay and Pinot Noir fruit is the famed Sangiacomo family who have been farming the lands of Sonoma since 1927. Our primary sources for Cabernet Sauvignon are Beckstoffer Vineyards in Rutherford, Bettinelli, and Laird Family Vineyards. We also purchase from the best neighboring vineyards in the valley small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot. We are committed to finding the best possible fruit sources at the best prices and continuously spend a tremendous amount of time finding and forging these critical relationships.

The Sangiacomo family has been farming in Sonoma County since 1927, and for 50 years has farmed premium wine grapes in Sonoma soil. Three generations of the family have been dedicated to growing some of the finest grapes in Sonoma County from vineyards that are 100% certified sustainable. Their diversity of vineyard sites, blocks and clones allows us a variety of options to make delicious Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in many different styles.

Larry Bettinelli, the “2016 Napa Valley Grower of the Year”, was one of the original vineyard managers of the Napa Valley and today owns and manages 10 different Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards totaling more than 350 acres.  Bettinelli’s Rutherford Vineyard provides us with exceptional fruit for both our Educated Guess and Hypothesis Cabernet Sauvignons.  Larry’s motto is “matching the right vineyard with the right winery partner and then working really closely with the winemaker to tailor our farming decisions to their specific styles”.

If Napa Valley had first-growth vineyards, the list would be packed with Beckstoffer-owned properties—To Kalon, Dr. Crane, Las Piedras, Georges III, and Missouri Hopper.  But it was a lesser-pedigreed property, Melrose Vineyard in Carneros, that Andy Beckstoffer purchased in 1973, four years after moving his young family west. That became the starting point for one of the most prestigious grape-growing outfits in Napa Valley and the North Coast. Now well into its second generation, Beckstoffer Vineyards is known for the quality of its grapes and for the management’s staunch support of growers’ rights, including being a founding member of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers Association in 1975.  We purchase Cabernet Sauvignon from the Georges III vineyard in Rutherford.
